Another mother

Everyone loves their mother. Yeah she may piss you off, or not let you do what you want, but you still love her no matter what. She cares for you, makes sure that you’re safe, she’s there if you need a shoulder to cry on. Everyone’s mother is different, but in my case I had two mothers. I know some of you are thinking, “Wait, What?! You have two mothers? How is that possible?” Well, it is possible. Of course my first mom is my biological mother and my second mother is… Now don’t get all freaked out when I tell you this but, my second mother was a cat. Yeah, you heard me right a cat. Most people wouldn’t think that a cat could be a mother to a human child, but in this case she was mine.   Anyway, it all began after I was born and mom had brought me home. When she Mattie first saw me she was very curious, I was the new item of the house. After me being in the house for a few weeks her motherly instincts started to kick in. Every time I would cry, she would come running, stand by my side and gave my mom this “What are you doing to my baby?” kind of look. There would be no time where I was crying that she wouldn’t be there next to me.
Almost every time that I was sleeping in my crib, she would climb up and sleep with me. I don’t know why she would do this, but I guess that there was something inside telling her to watch over me, and she sure did.

Then about nine years later, I was in sixth grade at the time. It was an early school morning. I got up a few minutes after dad did, and as I came down the stairs he looked at me with the saddest expression I have ever seen. I walked into the bathroom and saw her laying in the bathtub dead. We never knew how she died, but at least it was an easy clean up.

  1. I just want to say that I don't love my mother, but I'm sure that the majority of the worlds population loves there. It's super cute that you consider your cat another mother! She died?! I almost cried! I've never had a pet that I loved so much that I cried when they died, but my dog's death will make me go through the stages of grief. I hate him but I love him.

  2. It must have been hard for you when she died, seeing that you where very close. I was really sad when my dog died.
